As simple as it seems, checking and setting clickers can be overlooked and cause a communication barrier between rider and suspension tuner. For us here at LH Works (and most of the suspension tuner community) this is the way.

Setting Clickers

Standard Clickers

  1. Start by turning your clickers all the way in (stiff/right) until it stops. DO NOT force the last click. If it stops before the last click that it fine. Any small amount of force can cause internal damage.

  2. From where it stopped go out (left/softer) and the first click is your new zero point.

  3. From that zero point you can begin counting. If your setting sticker calls for “12” then count out 12 clicks.

Without Clicks

Most shock high speed adjusters do not have clicks. It is instead measured in full, half, quarter and eighth turns.

  1. Start by turning the high speed adjuster in until it stops. That is your zero. Sometimes it is helpful to mark on the shock where the zero point is.

  2. From where it stopped turn the adjuster out (left/soft). If your high speed setting is “1.5” then that means turn the adjuster out one and a half turns.

Fork Preload Adjusters

Some forks have an option for an external fork fork spring preload adjustment. Although the concept of “clicks” is the same, finding the “zero point” is actually reversed.

*Tip* Checking the fork preload while the bike is on a center stand can make turning the adjuster easier and feeling the “clicks” more noticeable. This is not mandatory, just a suggestion.

  1. Turn the preload adjuster out (left/softer) using the correct wrench or knob until it stops. DO NOT force the last click. If it stops before the last click that it fine. Any small amount of force can cause internal damage.

  2. From where it stopped go in (right/stiffer) and the first click is your new zero point.

  3. From that zero point you can begin counting. If your setting sticker calls for “2” then count out 2 clicks. some preload adjusters will have clicks at a half turn, some at a quarter turn and some have 3 positions.
